Artist Profile: Blaqbonez

Blaqbonez, also known as Akumefule Chukwu-Emeka George is a Nigerian Rapper who is popular for winning the Tosinadeda Radio Palm Wine’s in 2015, Terry Tha Rapman’s Zombie Competition, and also for emerging as the first runner-up in Vector’s King Kong competition.

Blaqbonez has been active on the Nigerian Music scene since 2011 when he dropped his first project, and he has continued to drop a project every year since then. In 2015, he rose to further fame by becoming the Hennessy Vs Class Captain, and a part of the SoundCity blast Cypher. He first made a name for himself in the rap community with the release of the single ‘South Africa Must Go’ alongside fellow rapper, Oladips. He also released his much talked about mixtape ‘CTAT’ “Cassette Tapes and Tvs”, grossing over 60,000 engagements in downloads and streams. It was his third mixtape, following “Hiphop In Blaq” and “The Unfinished Ep”.

The year 2018 was a very active year for the artist, as he further rose and solidified his status as an eminent rapper with content. His latest album “Bad Boy Blaq” features tracks like “Consent”, “Mamiwota”, and “Accommodate” which have fast become fan favorites as it is easy to connect with the messages in the songs, most especially on the track “Consent” which emphasizes the need for men to have a more profound respect for women in all areas, and to always seek consent. His Album was highlighted by SoundCity as album of the year alongside M.I’s “Rendevouz”, Burna Boy’s “Outside” amongst others.

The 22-year old has been co-signed by M.I, Illbliss, Vector, three of Nigeria’s longest-running rap careers, and contemporary wordsmiths like, Dremo, Ycee who have lauded the rapper since his stint Hennessy cypher, a prelude to his debut project, ‘Last Time Under’.

It has only been a few weeks into the year 2019, and we already have Blaqbonez featuring on a track by multi-talented rapper/producer Alpha, along side Dremo and Psycho YP. Also, we’re expecting the “Bad Boy Blaq Re-up” album in February.

Blaqbonez being an intelligent and hard-working artist is constantly proving himself and we, at PrymeMusic, cannot wait to see what he has planned for the rest of the year.
